FIRST PROJECT
IO SURGICAL RESEARCH S.R.L.
IO Surgical Research was born from the collaboration between the Urological Clinic in San Martino Polyclinic of Genoa, the University of Genoa-Mixura and DigitalTree Innovation Habitat.
Creation of 3D Models in Augmented Reality and their use in Robotic and Laparoscopic Urological Oncological real-time Surgery
IO Surgical Research SEE TO SAVE
Our goal is the use in Augmented Reality of 3D-anatomical models, starting from CT and MRI images, creating a real-time intracorporeal navigation system applied to Robotic and Laparoscopic Oncological Surgery.
The research project, and related patented technology, has its experimental field of application in the urological field, in kidney and prostate cancer, but it can be applied in other surgical disciplines.
Contemporary oncological surgery has entered “precision surgery” era which, through a series of tailor-made operating procedures, combines the maximum efficacy of the treatment with a minimum impact on the functionality of the organs and on the quality of life of the patient.
Creation of 3D Models in Augmented Reality
and their use in Robotic and Laparoscopic Urological Oncological real-time Surgery
IO Surgical Research aims to revolutionize robot-based surgery and laparoscopic urological oncology through a step change in integrated cutting
edge technologies. By leveraging real-time augmented reality (AR), 3D organ reconstruction, and biocompatible miniaturized sensors, with
advanced AI and experimental computational techniques, the startup addresses critical limitations in surgical precision, diagnostics, and post
operative outcomes.
IO Surgical Research aims to create a paradigm shift in how surgical procedures are conducted, making them less invasive, more accurate, and
safer for patients. The company’s solutions not only improve patient outcomes but also reduce healthcare costs by minimizing hospital stays, post
operative complications, and resource utilization. This dual benefit of better care and cost-efficiency makes the company’s mission highly
relevant in today’s healthcare landscape, worldwide.
Furthermore, IO Surgical Research aims to fill existing gaps in surgical technologies. Many current systems fail to account for real-time tissue
deformation and organ movement estimation, which can significantly compromise surgical outcomes. By addressing these challenges, the
company sets itself apart as an innovator, creating solutions that integrate seamlessly into modern surgical practices. These efforts are also a
response to the growing demand for precision medicine, where customized interventions are critical for improved patient care.
